The Design Engineer is responsible for designing forging dies for our forging operations. Other responsibilities include designing machine tooling and fixtures, as well as machine prints; simulating manufacturing processes; and troubleshooting manufacturing issues. This position will work closely with employees in the engineering, manufacturing, and estimating departments.

A candidate for the Design Engineer position will work independently and in team settings, and possesses strong analytical, communication, and CAD skills. A candidate will also demonstrate a strong customer orientation, and possess excellent continuous process improvement skills.


• Initiate forge product development taken from the Estimating department

• Select the most efficient forging process

• Evaluate tooling design and cost alternatives; redesign existing product components to achieve cost and weight reductions

• Analyze forces on tooling under loading from presses

• Complete conversion of tolerances and metrics into English measurements

• Utilize CAD software and simulation software (Deform) to develop tooling design and calculations

• Provide Technical assistance to internal and external customers

• Possess and demonstrate knowledge of the Quality Policy and how it relates to customer requirements


• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required

• Ability to interpret blueprints, tolerancing and geometry

• Good working knowledge of statistical process control methods and its application

• Ability to use various measuring equipment

• Working knowledge of Solidworks, Microsoft Office and Excel is required; Deform software is a plus

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Understanding of press forging fundamentals and die design is a plus

• Self-motivated with high attention to detail

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
